The alarm market in Europe is described by EU as fragmented. There are existing harmonized EN test standards but many countries have their own set of national requirements.
Despite differences in national requirements, the rules of EA (European co-operation for Accreditation) are a foundation for all testing of alarm products. The standard applicable for testing is ISO/EN 17025. DNV is accredited by Norwegian Accreditation for testing of alarm products with the accreditation number TEST 034.
DNV runs a fully equipped electrical (EMC)- and mechanical laboratory which covers all relevant tests in the product family standards EN 50130-4 and EN 50130-5 for alarm systems.
DNV is also notified body (no. 0434) as required in the Construction Products Directive (CPD) for testing of fire detection and fire alarm systems. EN 54-2, EN 54-4 and EN 54-21.
