At the recent 2011 International Green Awards in London, DNV was awarded bronze in the category Best Green International Business Award for large companies.
“This is a great achievement for DNV,” says CEO Henrik O. Madsen. “We are continuously striving to show that in an increasingly challenging world, DNV’s competence and experience instills trust and confidence and that we help companies worldwide achieve sustainable economic, safe and environmental performance.”
“The award reflects DNV’s growing status in the sustainability arena,” adds Bjorn K. Haugland, COO of Division Sustainability and Innovation in DNV, who attributes the award to the dedicated efforts of all business units in DNV.
“We aim to support our customers in implementing and maintaining sustainable business practices, incorporating sustainability thinking in all aspects of their business processes,” says Thomas Vogth-Eriksen, CEO of DNV Business Assurance. “This award is an acknowledgement of our efforts, and we will develop and improve our services even further to facilitate sustainable performance for our customers”.
The international Green Awards are considered by many as a genuine effort to promote positive attitudes towards sustainability and to recognize “true influencers, leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators who are helping to educate and inspire others in the sustainability field.”
Backed by the World Wildlife Fund, WBSCD, UNEP, Carbon Trust to name a few, the awards covered 20 categories. See the list of winners on greenawards.com.
The awards were judged via an online platform by 40 global judges representing diverse areas within sustainability. The three main criteria for judging were effectiveness and positive sustainable impact, level of innovation and sustainability vision and topicality. The winners in Best Green International Business Award for large companies were Unilever (Gold) Puma (Silver) and DNV (Bronze).
“We are strongly committed to our work in the area of sustainability and innovation and will definitely continue to strengthen our position as we aim to make a global impact for a safe and sustainable future,” concludes Haugland.
