Established under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is created for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption. "Obtaining approval from FSSAI is a significant milestone for us," says Chinmayee Deulgaonkar, National Food Manager (India), adding, “Largely, this is recognition of DNV Business Assurance's commitment and compliance towards the food certification business."
The FSSAI approval will empower DNV Business Assurance India to carry out jobs assigned by the Authority from time to time. The scope of work includes inspection of food business in light of sanitary and hygienic requirements, conduct pre-commissioning inspection of newly established food business units, routine unannounced inspections as directed by Authority, re-inspections to verify rectification of deficiencies pointed by authority.
“Armed with this FSSAI approval will certainly extend our presence even further in the Food sector,” affirms Chinmayee.
